Advanced Kambo Practitioner Training
I am truly honoured to now be an Advanced Kambo Practitioner with the IAKP. The first, of what I hope in the future will be many, in Ireland.
This training allowed me the opportunity to continue to hone my craft and learn valuable lessons from my fellow practitioners and Karen Darke, the founder of the IAKP.
Together we deepened our knowledge and skill of working with complex and chronic health conditions, end-of-life cases, addiction, depression and PTSD.
I connected to these lessons with a deep humility, as addiction and depression are unfortunately two entities which permeate our society in Ireland (and afar).
Here, we are living in a society in which there is a deep-seated fear of admitting to struggling with our mental health. It runs through our DNA. This has caused us to largely become a nation of ‘pushing things under the rug’, even as it is becoming more socially acceptable to speak about our mental health.
“Ah, it’ll be grand”, we say.
“I’m fine, how are you?”, being the common quick-fire greeting between us, no matter how we are truly feeling.
This suppression is, I believe, largely responsible for the heavy drinking culture that is part of Ireland. Yes, we may be “mad craic”, and our penchant for enjoying a few drinks may seem harmless, but this can come with a caveat. When we try to suppress our emotions with a depressive substance, we are fighting a losing battle and unfortunately for some, it can spiral into addiction and serious mental health problems.
My own journey with clinical depression was one that kept me in stagnation for the majority of my life. I tried multiple interventions, took antidepressants for eight years, but I was unable to find my way out of the mire until I found kambo. I am eternally grateful for the healing this powerful medicine brought me and now to be able to bring it to others, and witness the many transformations it gifts them.
It is my intention to continue this journey, bringing the frog to those who need it on this island and beyond. Whilst it isn’t for everyone, it is a natural, non-toxic intervention that has many benefits for our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.
It is a gift that this traditional Amazonian medicine is now available in Ireland. If you have any questions or are beginning to feel the call towards kambo, please get in touch with me.
