Dance of the Masculine and Feminine

In my dreams I found myself at the top of a hill, looking down at a bevy of swans. As I spotted two beginning to mate I ran down the hill, eager to watch this elegant dance of the masculine and feminine. Suddenly the cob left his partner and began to fly towards me. I ran in the opposite direction but he jumped on my back, completely overpowering me with his strength, his masculine essence. The message was: surrender.

I could not surrender to it, I fought back. Then my father appeared, but instead of separating us as I hoped he would, he picked up both me and the swan who were still entangled and threw us into the lake. The message was: go deeper.

Surrender. Go deeper. Stop fighting the deliciousness of your femininity. Allow yourself to be overtaken by the masculine essence.  Become the dance you have just witnessed.

Allowing this dance leads us to a deeper union with our current or future partner, no matter our gender or sexual orientation. When we operate from opposite ends of the spectrum, we are magnetically drawn to each other.

However, this is often a difficult task for women.

We live in a society in which women are encouraged to operate from their masculine essence. Go out in the world and plough on. Turn up for your education, your career, your family, yourself, every day in a focused, directional way. Don’t stop to smell the roses, don’t stop to sway your hips to the music, don’t stop to process your emotions, don’t stop to honour your menstrual cycle. Is it paining you, trying to make you surrender to the deep rest your feminine body and soul needs? Take a pain killer and carry on. Hurry up now.

This is not natural for the feminine.

Blindly living in this energy on a daily basis will undoubtedly cause problems when you come into relationship with someone who has an overarching masculine essence. Oftentimes women complain about their inability to attract a man who is healthily operating from his core masculine energy. Instead of blaming the man, it is more beneficial to turn your attention inward.

To what degree are you operating out of your own masculine essence? Are you turning up for your relationship in this energy, frustrated as to why the dynamic is not as you desire it to be?

There is no shame in this, as it is what society forces upon us. However, if you would like to change this, to what degree are you willing to step into your feminine essence and allow it to shine through?

Keep in mind, the goal is not to strive to exude solely one energy or the other. Every being contains both energies and naturally, having the ability to step into either energy when necessary can be beneficial in our lives. Women, we still need to go out in the world and make shit happen. Men, you still need to surrender to relaxation and pleasure.

If you are someone who desires to call in a partner whose natural essence is strongly masculine or feminine, can you show up as the opposite? Or if you strive for a partner with a perfect balance of both energies, can you too operate from that balance?

How do you wish to show up to the dance?
